It is confirmed by the actual figures that the gap between the rich and the poor is increasing. The "Deutsche Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung" found out that between 1996 and 2006 the share of the humans who are in danger of becoming impoverished has increased from 20.7% by 4.7% to 25.4% while the share of the high-income group has also increased from 15.4% by 4.9% to 20.5%. Both trends are expected to continue due to the further technological development.
